Optimism is growing that Arsenal will strike a deal for Shakhtar Donetsk’s Mihajlo Mudrik, while the Gunners are also in talks with Atletico Madrid to sign Joao Felix on loan.

Arsenal and Miners are in talks over the amount of Mudryk’s fee and the structure of the payment.
Arsenal are willing to pay close to the £85m valuation of the miners
A source told Sky Sports. No deal has been reached, but Arsenal are working hard to find a compromise.
Sources close to the deal say the club will « find a solution » with the 21-year-old wanting a move and personal terms unlikely to be an issue.
Sky Sports reported last week that Shakhtar considers Mudrik one of the top five wingers in the world, who has only made eight caps for his country and has yet to score in international football.
Miners consider him a better option than Manchester United’s Anthony
Who spent £86m from Ajax in the summer and use that as a benchmark for negotiations.
Last week
Miners chief executive Sergei Palkin confirmed the club had received offers for Mudrik, including from Arsenal, but they were « not what we wanted to see » to complete the deal.
Chelsea have also been eyeing Mudrik but have yet to make an official bid for the Ukrainian, who watched Arsenal’s Boxing Day game with West Ham on TV and posted a picture on Instagram.
Arsenal are also in talks with Atletico Madrid to sign Felix on loan.
The Spanish club are believed to be asking around £19m for a six-month loan deal, including wages, but Arsenal believe that is too much and will only seek a transfer if the figure is right.
The 23-year-old remains contracted to Atlético until the summer of 2026 and his loan changes apply to both clubs.
Diego Simeone’s side will look to preserve his market value to sell in the summer, while Arsenal seek cover for the injured Gabriel Jesus, who is expected to return later in the season.
Manchester United also considered a move for Felix in January but are not interested in a deal on the stipulated terms.
Felix’s figures are thought to be well over United’s January budget and they are now looking elsewhere.
Felix
Who joined Atletico Madrid for £113million in July 2019, has scored five goals in all competitions for the club this season, including one in last year’s World Cup in Portugal.
To understand why Joao Felix did not reach his true potential at Atletico Madrid
It is important to consider how he sees football and how he enjoys it.
« The ball
She’s precious, » he told the Players’ Forum during the 19-year-old’s breakthrough season for Benfica. « She’s a gift. A gift for you, a gift for me. « .
